Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit alternatives (2026): 8 tools compared
Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit is the easy choice if you already work in Semrush: $99 a month, daily prompt tracking, and answers captured from the interface rather than a model API. The reasons to look elsewhere are specific — 25 prompts is not many, every colleague needs a licence, and past the toolkit the next step is a bundle with an SEO suite you may not want. Here are eight tools that answer one of those differently, with where each is better and worse.
Why people look past Semrush's toolkit
The toolkit is $99 a month for one project and 25 prompts tracked daily, with Brand Performance reported weekly; another 50 prompts cost $60 a month, each user needs a licence of their own, and there is no free trial (toolkit knowledge base). Prompt tracking covers ChatGPT Search, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini according to Semrush's data page, which adds Perplexity for Brand Performance; the toolkit page itself names only ChatGPT and AI Mode (Semrush AI visibility data). Three things send buyers to compare:
- The allowance is thin. Twenty-five prompts covers one product line at best, and a hundred daily prompts on the toolkit alone is $219 a month.
- The way up is the suite. Semrush One adds AI prompts to the SEO toolkit — 50 on the $199 Starter, 100 on Pro+ at $299, 200 on Advanced at $549 (Semrush pricing) — which is good value if you want the SEO tools and a detour if you do not.
- Seats cost. A second colleague on the toolkit is a second licence.
Semrush is strong where the others are not: a market-wide prompt database, nine engines on Enterprise AIO (Enterprise pricing), and SEO and AI data in one login. For a one-to-one comparison with Recomma, see Recomma vs Semrush.

What 100 daily prompts cost
Entry prices compare badly when allowances differ, so here is one case: a hundred prompts, tracked daily, for one brand and one user. Where a plan gives more than a hundred, the allowance is shown.
| Tool | Plan | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Semrush | Toolkit + 2 prompt packs (125 prompts) | $219 |
| SE Visible | Basic (200 prompts, 3 projects) | $99 |
| ZipTie | 3 engines at $0.01 a check | about $90 |
| Otterly.AI | Standard (100 prompts) | $189 |
| Peec AI | Pro (150 prompts) | $245 |
| Recomma | Growth (300 prompts) | $299 |
At this size SE Visible and ZipTie are the cheapest daily trackers on the list, and Recomma is not cheap: Starter tracks daily but stops at 50 prompts, so this size needs Growth. Recomma is cheaper below that — Starter is $30 for 50 prompts — or once you need several hundred.
1. Recomma
This is our product, so it is first and you should weigh that. Recomma captures ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews and Google AI Mode from the pages readers see — as Semrush does — and asks Perplexity through its own API. What it adds is about whether a number can be defended: every figure carries the number of answers it was measured over and a 95% interval, each tracked question is priced by the keyword demand behind it, and every closed action is re-measured on fresh answers fourteen days later, with the verdict kept either way.
- Plans: Starter $30/mo · 50 prompts · daily · 1 project · up to 3 engines; Growth $299/mo · 300 prompts · daily · 3 projects · up to 3 engines; Scale $999/mo · 500 prompts · daily · unlimited projects · every engine.
- Better than Semrush's toolkit on: entry price, prompts pooled across projects with unlimited members, a sample size and interval on every figure, measured outcomes for each fix.
- Worse than Semrush's toolkit on: more than 50 prompts needs Growth, no market-wide prompt database, no SEO suite, Perplexity read by API rather than captured, no customer reviews yet.
- Best for: teams that report AI visibility upward and need the numbers to survive a question, and agencies running several brands from one pool.
2. SE Ranking and SE Visible
SE Ranking is the closest like-for-like swap: another SEO platform with AI tracking built in, and a standalone product for teams that want only the AI side. Every SE Ranking plan tracks AI answers — Core is $129 a month with 100 daily prompts across five models, Growth $279 with 250 (SE Ranking pricing). SE Visible, the standalone product, is $99 a month ($79 billed yearly) for 200 prompts and three projects, $189 for 450 and $355 for 1,000, with a ten-day trial and no card (SE Visible). Engines are ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Perplexity, tracked daily and captured from the interface, with Claude listed as coming soon (AI visibility tracker). Every SE Ranking plan includes MCP and API credits (SE Ranking MCP).
Best for: anyone whose complaint with Semrush is the prompt count — SE Visible gives eight times the allowance for the same $99. More in Recomma vs SE Ranking.
3. Ahrefs Brand Radar
Brand Radar works from the market down rather than your prompts up. Its index covers more than 475 million prompts drawn from Ahrefs' keyword database; AI Overviews and AI Mode update continuously with it, while ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot are re-tested monthly on a 90-day window. The index is $199 a month (Brand Radar). Every paid Ahrefs plan also includes daily custom prompts — five on Lite at $129, ten on Standard at $249, twenty on Advanced at $449 — and custom prompt packages add checks from $50 for 2,500 (Ahrefs pricing). Answers are collected from the free public web interfaces (methodology), and the API and an MCP server with Brand Radar tools come from Lite (Ahrefs MCP).
Best for: market-wide share-of-voice benchmarking, and teams who would rather move to the other big suite than leave suites altogether. See Recomma vs Ahrefs.
4. Otterly.AI
Otterly.AI's plans are Lite at $29 a month (15 prompts, one workspace), Standard at $189 (100 prompts, unlimited workspaces, REST API and MCP) and Premium at $489 (400 prompts), all tracked daily. ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot are in the base price; Gemini and AI Mode are $59 a month each on Standard (Otterly pricing).
Best for: a cheap start with daily tracking, and buyers who need Perplexity and Copilot more than Google's own engines. See Recomma vs Otterly.AI.
5. Peec AI
Peec AI tracks daily on every plan: Starter $95 a month with 50 prompts and one project, Pro $245 with 150 prompts and two, Advanced $495 with 350 prompts and five. Each plan includes three models of your choosing, with a fourth from $35 a month, and users are unlimited (Peec pricing). The REST API is an Enterprise feature and the MCP server reads and writes (Peec MCP docs).
Best for: content and SEO teams that want a dedicated daily tracker, with no seat counting, on the three engines that matter to them. See Recomma vs Peec AI.
6. HubSpot AEO
HubSpot AEO is $50 a month ($45 billed yearly) for 25 prompts, with more purchasable, across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and a daily score. It does not need a HubSpot subscription; each extra brand is another $50, and there is a free trial on 25 prompts with no card (HubSpot AEO). HubSpot does not publish an API or MCP server for it, or the trial's length.
Best for: the same 25 prompts as Semrush's toolkit at half the price, with Perplexity included — especially for teams already on HubSpot.
7. ZipTie
ZipTie is billed by use: $0.01 per prompt per engine check, or $0.0087 on all seven engines, and a weekly prompt costs a seventh of a daily one; presets start at $42.75 a month. The engines are ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, AI Mode, Copilot, Bing AI Overview and Gemini, on a daily, weekly or monthly cadence. Seats, projects and competitors are unlimited, API and MCP access is $10 a month extra, and the seven-day trial needs no card (ZipTie pricing).
Best for: teams who want to pay for exactly the checks they run — a long tail on weekly, a few key prompts daily — and agencies that do not want seat limits.
8. Rankscale
Rankscale sells credits rather than prompts. Essentials is from $17 a month billed yearly (120 credits), Pro $99 (1,200), Pro+ $229 (3,000) and Growth $385 (5,500). Every plan includes 17 or more engines with no per-engine upsell; ChatGPT, AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini cost a quarter of a credit per answer, and the pricing page labels each engine GUI or API so you can see how it is collected. Cadence runs from hourly to monthly, the REST API starts on Pro+ (Rankscale pricing), and the MCP server, in beta on every plan, reads and writes behind opt-in permissions (Rankscale MCP).
Best for: budget-conscious SEOs and agencies who want the widest engine list and are comfortable doing credit arithmetic. See Recomma vs Rankscale.
How to choose
- Decide first whether you want a suite. If you would pay for keyword and rank tracking anyway, Semrush One, SE Ranking or Ahrefs puts AI tracking beside it; if not, a dedicated tracker gives more prompts for the money.
- Start from the engines your buyers use, not from the longest list. Perplexity and Copilot are covered by some tools here and not others; Google's engines are add-ons on some.
- Price the plan you will actually be on — with the prompt packs, seats and engine add-ons — at the size you will be in six months.
- Ask how answers are collected. Semrush, SE Ranking and Ahrefs capture from the interface, as Recomma does; Rankscale labels each engine; some vendors do not say.
- Ask how many answers each number rests on. A visibility figure without a sample size cannot tell a real move from a re-roll.
- Decide what happens after the report. If you need to show which changes moved the number, look for tools that re-measure a fix rather than only chart the trend.

How this list was made
Every price, allowance and engine list here was read from the vendor's own pricing page, help centre or documentation on 14 October 2026, and is linked where it is stated; where a vendor does not publish something, the table says so rather than guessing. Where Semrush's own pages disagree on the engines, we say so rather than pick one. Review-site ratings are left out because they could not be checked at the source. Tools are listed Recomma first, because this is our page, and the rest by how directly they replace the toolkit for someone leaving Semrush.
