Recomma vs SE Ranking (2026): an SEO suite with AI tracking, or measured AI visibility

Joshua
ComparisonFacts checked

SE Ranking is an SEO platform that now tracks AI answers inside every plan, and sells a standalone AI visibility product, SE Visible, beside it. Recomma does only the AI side. SE Ranking gives five engines on every plan and more daily prompts for the money, wrapped in rank tracking, backlinks and a site audit. Recomma starts cheaper, attaches a sample size and an error bar to every figure, prices each question by the demand behind it, and re-measures each fix fourteen days after it ships. Teams that want one tool for SEO and AI search tend to fit SE Ranking; teams that need to prove which changes moved their AI visibility tend to fit Recomma.

At a glance

The table sets the two side by side on the axes a buyer usually asks about first. SE Ranking's figures are from its pricing page and the SE Visible site, in US dollars; the pricing page shows local currency outside the US. Recomma's are from the plan table the product enforces.

Plans and prices

SE Ranking sells AI visibility three ways. The SEO platform itself includes it: Core is $129 a month ($103.20 billed yearly) with 100 prompts tracked daily across ten projects and one seat; Growth is $279 ($223.20) with 250 prompts across thirty projects and three seats. Both list five LLMs and unlimited AI source tracking, and the prompt limit is shared across every project in the account (AI Results Tracker FAQ). The AI Search add-on raises those limits for $89, $179 or $345 a month, and comes with access to SE Visible. SE Ranking pricing.

SE Visible is the standalone product, for brand and marketing teams rather than SEO practitioners. Basic is $99 a month ($79 yearly) for 200 prompts in three projects; Core is $189 ($151) for 450 prompts in five; Plus is $355 ($284) for 1,000 prompts in ten. Every plan tracks all five engines daily, and each prompt counts once however many engines it runs on. SE Visible.

Recomma sells three self-serve plans and an Enterprise tier quoted by a person. Starter is $30 a month for 50 prompts, sampled daily, on one project. Growth is $299 for 300 prompts, sampled daily, across three projects. Scale is $999 for 500 prompts, daily, with no limit on projects or engines. Prompts pool across the workspace, as they do at SE Ranking. The full table is on the pricing page.

On prompts per dollar, SE Ranking is ahead from the middle up. SE Visible Core tracks 450 prompts on five engines daily for $189; Recomma's Growth tracks 300 on up to three engines for $299. Recomma is cheaper only at the bottom, where $30 buys 50 prompts tracked daily — less than either SE Ranking product starts at. What Recomma's price buys instead is in the sections below: what each number can be trusted to mean, and what happens after it.

Engines, and how answers are collected

SE Ranking tracks Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, in seven markets and five languages. Its AI Search Toolkit page says results are retrieved "through direct UI-based monitoring", capturing responses "as a real user would see them"; SE Visible says the same of its answers, collected "using a browser and graphical user interface". SE Visible lists Claude as coming soon. Copilot is not listed for either.

Recomma captures ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews and Google AI Mode from the interface a reader sees too. On this point the two products agree, and it matters: in our study, only 8% of the pages ChatGPT's interface cited appeared in the API's answer to the same question. A tracker that reads the API is measuring a different answer. Against SE Ranking, the difference is Perplexity: SE Ranking reads it from the interface on every plan, while Recomma asks it through its own API — on by default on Scale, and one of the three engines a smaller plan can choose. What sampling can and cannot see sets out the trade-off.

What happens after the number

SE Ranking reports whether a brand is mentioned and linked, its position in the answer, the sources each engine cites (sorted into media, blogs and forums), competitor visibility and a cached copy of each answer. SE Visible adds sentiment, share of voice and prompt suggestions. Around all of it sits the SEO platform: rank tracking, keyword and backlink research and a website audit of up to 250,000 pages a month on Core. SE Ranking's own FAQ warns that answers vary from one check to the next and advises reading a trend rather than a single date; it does not publish a sample size or interval to say how much movement is noise.

Recomma's additions are about whether a number can be trusted and acted on:

  • Every figure carries the number of answers behind it and a 95% Wilson interval, and a reading too thin to mean anything is dimmed rather than drawn as a trend — the noise SE Ranking's FAQ describes, measured rather than left to judgement. Why the error bar.
  • Each tracked question is priced with keyword data — monthly searches, the share of clicks a top result takes, and what advertisers bid — so you can see what the market behind a gap is worth.
  • A gap becomes an action. When the action closes, the reading on its prompts is frozen, and fourteen days later the same prompts are asked again on fresh answers. The verdict is kept whether or not anything moved.
  • The brand's own site is audited against fifteen markup rules that AI crawlers trip on, with each failing page's markup as it is and as it should be. SE Ranking's audit is broader SEO; Recomma's is narrower and aimed at AI crawlers. The checklist lists all fifteen.
  • Visits that assistants send to the site are reported beside the answers that sent them.

API, MCP and exports

SE Ranking is generous here. Every subscription includes API credits (25,000 a month on Core, 100,000 on Growth) and its MCP server, which exposes more than 180 SEO and GEO tools, AI search visibility among them, to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants (SE Ranking MCP). SE Visible has its own API that can create projects, brands, competitors and prompts and pull results. Reporting connects to Data Studio, AgencyAnalytics and Whatagraph, and automation to Make, n8n and Zapier. SE Ranking does not say on its MCP page whether the server can change tracked prompts or only read.

Recomma's read-only REST API comes with Scale, so on API access SE Ranking is ahead; CSV export comes with every plan. Recomma's MCP server, also on every plan, reads and writes: an assistant can list the gaps, read the site findings with their before-and-after markup, propose new prompts and close an action. Every write previews first, needs a separate write scope, and new prompts land as suggestions that spend nothing until a person accepts them. Fixing what AI search gets wrong, from Claude Code walks through it.

Where SE Ranking is the better choice

  • One tool for SEO and AI search. Rank tracking, backlinks, keyword research and a full site audit come with the AI tracking.
  • Engines. Five on every plan, Perplexity included and read from the interface. Recomma tracks five on Scale and three below it.
  • Prompts per dollar from the middle up. 450 prompts on five engines for $189 on SE Visible Core, against 300 on up to three for $299.
  • API and MCP on every plan, with integrations for agency reporting tools.
  • Track record and trial. SE Ranking has been around for over ten years and offers fourteen days free with no card; Recomma is new, has no third-party reviews yet, and its only trial is three days of Growth with a card.

Where Recomma is the better choice

  • Price at the bottom. $30 a month to start, against $99 for SE Visible Basic or $129 for SE Ranking Core — daily, with up to three of its five engines.
  • Numbers you can defend. A sample size and confidence interval on every figure, so a change that is noise is shown as noise.
  • Proof that a fix worked. Actions re-measured fourteen days after they close, against a frozen baseline.
  • What the gaps are worth. Every prompt shows the priced demand behind it, so a gap comes with a market size, not only a count.
  • An assistant that can act. An MCP server that writes as well as reads, behind a preview and a separate scope.
  • A single focus. If you already own an SEO suite, Recomma adds AI visibility without paying for a second one.

Choose SE Ranking if… choose Recomma if…

Choose SE Ranking if you want SEO and AI visibility in one subscription; you want Perplexity as its interface shows it, or daily tracking on the smallest plan; you track many prompts and want the most of them per dollar; or you report to clients through Data Studio, AgencyAnalytics or Whatagraph. Choose SE Visible over the SEO platform if the people reading the numbers are brand or marketing leads rather than SEOs.

Choose Recomma if ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews and Google AI Mode and Perplexity cover the engines your buyers use; you already have an SEO tool; you have to show a client or a board which changes moved the number, with the error bar to back it; you want to see what the market behind each gap is worth; or you work from an AI assistant and want it to fix the site, not only read a report.

How we compared

SE Ranking's plans, prices, engines and integrations were read from its public pricing page, its AI Search Toolkit and MCP pages, its help centre and the SE Visible site on 14 October 2026, in US dollars. Where SE Ranking does not publish something — sample sizes, how fixes are measured, whether its MCP server writes — the page says so rather than guessing, and where two of its pages disagree, as on the add-on's prompts and checks, we quote both. Third-party review scores were left out because they could not be checked at the source. Recomma's figures are drawn from the same plan table its API enforces, so they change on this page when they change in the product.
